This is my recommended power supply replacements for missing or damaged original supplies for various vintage consoles. In some cases, I also link to barrel adapters and polarity reversing adapters for situations like building an all-in-one solution for 'Tower of Power' setups (Sega Genesis + Sega CD + 32X). Take care to always observe the polarity requirements for most consoles. Many require a "center negative" barrel, while others require a "center positive" barrel. While my recommendations take polarity into account, it's a good idea to verify on your own. If you spot any mistakes, don't hesitate to send me an email with a heads-up on the link in question.

On amp rating, you can never have too much, as the console will only take what it needs from the power supply. It's voltage that you need to be careful about, so don't use a 9-Volt power supply on a system that only needs 5 Volts. You could very easily fry your console by overvolting it! The exception to this are consoles with DC inputs typically ranging from 7V up to 13V, as these use regulators that convert the voltage to a flat 5V inside the console. Alternative Approach for Wall Socket Type A or B Territories:









If you live in an area that uses wall socket types A or B (typical North American sockets) and want to try an alternate method using a single model of Triad, you may prefer the writeup my friend Bob has done over at RetroRGB.com. The only downsides to this approach is having to use more patch adapter cables, and you're limited to 1.3 Amps (so no room for all-in-one solutions like the 'Tower of Power').
