NTSC RGB Profiles for the Super NES:

These profiles were designed for the American NTSC Super NES console using RGB + CSync output. As with all my profiles, the intended output from the Framemeister is 1080p/60. Make sure your Framemeister is set to this output mode, and make sure to check "ZOOM" is set to "ON" after you load the profile of your choice. Also remember that the profiles themselves can be downloaded from the main page, while these hardware-specific pages are to document the settings contained within each profile.

Below are details on each of the SNSRGB profiles:

-

SNSRGB4X (Super NES RGB 4X scaled)

This profile scales the image to 4x the original 224 vertical res.

If you have access to your HDTV's ability to change its overscan mode (stuff like 5%, 10%, none, full pixel, etc.), the suggested display setting would be max zoom. For my Sony display, this is the -1 setting. For other brands, they may refer to it as 10% overscan for example. Please do not confuse the overscan zoom functions described here with your display's standard zoom functions (i.e. "Cinema", "Wide Stretch", etc.).

How SNSRGB4X Should Appear on a 1920x1080p Display:

Due to the 4x integer scaling, you will notice black borders on the top and bottom of the screen. If this bothers you, please use the SNSRGB5X profile, as it will not have the black bars, but at the cost of cropping 4 lines of graphics from the top and bottom of the game image.

SNSRGB5X (Super NES RGB 5X scaled)

This profile scales the image to 5x the original 224 vertical res. Note that a portion of the top and bottom lines of graphics are cut off from view. This is due to 5x scaling resulting in an image slightly larger that 1080 lines. However, back when the Super NES was new, televisions of that era also cut off a portion of the top and bottom graphics, so the effect here is very similar.

If you have access to your HDTV's ability to change its overscan mode (stuff like 5%, 10%, none, full pixel, etc.), the suggested display setting would be zoom turned off. For my Sony display, this is the FULL PIXEL setting. For other brands, they may refer to it as 1:1 pixel ratio for example. Please do not confuse the overscan zoom functions described here with your display's standard zoom functions (i.e. "Cinema", "Wide Stretch", etc.).

Due to the 5x integer scaling, 4 lines of graphics from the top and bottom of the game image will be cropped from view. If this bothers you, please use the SNSRGB4X profile, as it will show more of the graphics, but at the cost of also seeing black borders on the top and bottom of the screen.
